#1: Are
you a horse trader?
Where do your horses come from?
Answer: No, we are not horse
traders. I do not buy and
sell horses. I sell horses on consignment, which means they come from
individuals that don’t have the time to sell their horse
themselves. My husband has a full time job and he pays the bills. I am
a Stay at Home Mom that does this as a hobby for fun. When I was
shopping to buy my kids their first “kid horse”, everyone
had a kid horse for sale but not many even had kids! I was lied to,
tricked, and bought some really bad horses from some really crooked
people. These horse trader types will do anything to sell you their
horse because that is their only income. I went through 6 horses trying
to find our first kids horse! After that whole ordeal, I always said
when we had a horse property I would help people find good horses. And
here I am! I’ve been very successful doing so over the past 3
years. Just check out my references page!
#2: So
you never take in
trades?
Answer: It depends on the
situation. I have a couple
of times if I have a client looking for the type of horse you are
wanting to trade in, and I think I can sell it quickly. I am very picky
on the horses I take in to sell.
# 3. Are
the horses I sell
bombproof?
Answer: NO! No horse is bombproof
in my opinion and
you will never see that word in any of my horse ads. If someone is
trying to sell you a “bombproof” horse, buyer beware!
Horses are prey animals and although there are some really good, calm
horses, they are 1000lb animals and should be treated as such. The
horses I get in to sell I put through lots of tests, and check them out
thoroughly. I keep them a full 30 days before I offer them for sale. If
I am selling them as a kid horse, you can come out and see my kids ride
them! If someone brings me a horse to sell and after I evaluate it, it
isn’t sound, super gentle, or doesn’t ride well, I will
send it right back to the owners. I only represent good, quality horses
and they will be exactly how I tell you they are. I don’t get a
horse on Saturday night from
the sale barn and try to sell it on Monday morning as a
safe, gentle, kid horse!
#4: Will
you sell my 6
month colt for me?
Answer: No, I only sell
well-mannered riding horses.
#5: Do
you take horses in
for training?
Answer: YES! I have now started
taking outside horses
in for training. See the services
page for more info.
#6: Do
you teach riding
lessons?
Answer: No, but I will help you
learn the horse you
are buying from me while you are here.
#7. Can
I use your bathroom
while I am there?
Answer: Sure, if
you think you can open the gate to my house and get past these 2 very
large dogs! Otherwise, use the potty before you come, or you are
welcome to use a horse stall. :)
#8. What
guarantee do I get
with my horse?
Answer: Every horse I sell comes
with a guarantee. You
will have 3 days to get a vet exam once the horse leaves my property.
If the horse is not sound and healthy, bring the horse back and I will
give you a full refund! If you end up not liking the horse, whether it
be a week or 2 years from the time you get it home, bring it back and I
will sell it for you. After 3 days I have already given the owners of
the horse their money, so I cannot issue a refund, but I will be happy
to get your money back by re-selling it for you. I keep all the
pictures and video’s on file from every horse I sell so I can get
the horse back up on my website promptly.
#9. Can
I bring my trainer
when I come to try out the horse?
Answer: YES! Bring your trainer,
your vet, your
spouse, your children, or your friends. And if you are an experienced
horse person, I will let you do everything from start to finish. Catch
the horse in my pasture, saddle and tack up, ride, or do anything you
would like. In most cases, I allow people to ride the horse out my
front gate and ride off property. There are no secrets here! Again, the
horse is going to be exactly how I say it is and I want you to see that
for yourself. If you are a beginner and need help, or want to see the
horse ridden first, we do all that as well. You call the shots when you
come out to see one of our horses!
#10. Are
your prices
negotiable?
Answer: Usually not much, if any. I
am a professional
horse broker and know the current market value for a horse at that
given time. I do not put a big mark up on the horses I sell. I price
them very fairly according to the horses ability. I do not play the
horse trading game with my prices. Occasionally, when I have a real
motivated seller, I can come down if the horse has been here awhile and
it’s not selling. So price will just be based on a case by case
basis. Each horse I sell is owned by a different person.
